Why we LOVE Maybelline New York

As you know, Maybelline New York is now in Nigeria (YAYY!!) and no one can be more excited about this news than the myHairmyBeauty Team! If there’s one brand we’re obsessed with, it is Maybelline New York.

The launch featured lots of beautiful people in the Hair and Beauty Industry in Nigeria and had MakeupArtist Bimpe Onakoya as its main makeup artist. (Congrats Bimpe!)

Now here are the reasons why we’re excited that this Beauty Brand being in Lagos, Nigeria. For 1 they are brand that has options for Black Women, and here are other reasons why:

1. Flawless Foundation coverage

age rewind

– Maybelline New York, has one of the most affordable foundation options out there, and they have lots of color options for the black woman. My favorite especially is the Instant Age Rewind, although this product was created with the ageing woman in mind, I love the fact that like most maybelline products, it is a 2-in-1 product, in this case it is a Foundation + Primer. This is fantastic for the busy woman on the go.

2. Bold colors for Deeper shades

Dear Maybelline, thanks for realizing that Black women need rich pigmentated colors. If you are a lady that loves eyeshadow that pops, then you need to try their EYE STUDIO® COLOR TATTOO® PURE PIGMENTS LOOSE POWDER SHADOW.  They create the most intense color that applies easily and last all day.

3. Mascara

– Who needs fake eyelashes when you can get them with just one stroke of one of these mascaras! One of our very first BLOG post, was all about how much we LOVED Maybelline mascaras, most especially their falsies and colossal mascaras. This is a Staple in our makeup bags. If you love Bold lashes but are scared of eyelash extensions, you need THIS mascara! 3 Coats and you’ll thank us later 🙂

4. BB Cream anyone?

Maybelline New York was one of the first brands to cover the black woman when the BB cream trend started. Sure they don’t have enough options for all OUR shades, but with their medium and dark and with enough mixing and experimentation, you can get the right color for you. If regular foundation + Sunscreen + Moisturizer is too much for your pores? then SWITCH to BB creams

5. More options for Less

It is easy to see why this brand is an innovator. If you need more bang for your buck when it comes to makeup then you’ll be happy with any Maybelline New York option out there. Multiple color eyeshadows for the price of one, 2-in-1 foundations, BB creams, Moisturizing lip colors, name it Maybelline has it!

6. Limitless Lip color

So when I was in University, I developed an obsessive habit of collecting Lipsticks (Thanks to CVS and Walgreens) all of which were mostly Maybelline, WHY? Because there are so many colors I just had to have them ALL!! Loll. Not advisable to do especially if you’re trying to save money, but when you see their lipstick color options, we dare you to just buy 1!

7. Right Nude for the Black Woman

So the Nude Lipstick color is super sexy and all the rage, but let’s be honest, as black women it is almost impossible to find the right color that suits you, without making you look like you have frostbitten lips. Well Maybelline New York has given us options, from warmer nude colors to cooler ones, and most importantly they are moisturizing, so you can skip the lip balm and go straight for the Lipstick.

  2. This is really great news indeed! We also love Maybelline. ..they were one of the few make up companies to offer options for women of colour here in the UK.
    Thanks for sharing! …x

  3. hmm…if you live in Lagos and won’t mind terrible traffic to get it. I love maybelline but can’t get their products coz it’s not available in Port Harcourt. I checked their websites, Nigeria isn’t included. Shops in big and highly populated cities is great for personal experiences especially when u don’t know ur colour/shade but is very limited. They need to provide online shopping options.

  4. pls is maybelline fit me foundation in Nigeria? if yes pls where can i get it in lagos.
